Karl “Uncle Yo” Custer, LMSW, is Zenkai’s home-grown emcee and geek-specific stand-up comedian and certified therapeutically-aligned game master. From 2007-20217, he nationally toured conventions with his longform rantcore style of stand-up comedy, presenting panels such as “Surviving a Mecha Attack,” “Magical Girl Bootcamp,” and “The Theatrical Side of GM’ing.”
Now armed with a licensed masters degree in social work, this previous puppeteer/podcaster/playwright proposes to pilot programming using anime and manga to illustrate mental health, social justice and nerd-powerment. Last year, his “Japanese Folk Theater” and “Adolescent Trauma Recovery & Naruto” panels were launched on his YouTube Page. Game on. Be good. Do good.
