We're happy to announce the winners of our contest to win tickets to Distant Worlds: Music from FINAL FANTASY at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to Bonnie Brock and Markeida Miles, who each won a pair of tickets to the January 31st, 3pm show, with special guests Rikki, Susan Calloway and Nobuo Uematsu! Below are their winning entries:

From Bonnie Brock: I started playing Final Fantasy XI ten years ago, and little did I know that when I created a character and logged onto the server for the first time, that it would be changing my life. After bumbling around in my first MMORPG for a few weeks, playing with my husband, we ran into another first time player from Canada, and we immediately formed a strong connection with her. Soon we started going on epic adventures together, doing quests, missions, and helping one another out, doing things not just to progress in the game, but something more important, and that is to have fun. Weeks turned into months, and months turned into years, and soon we found that this bond that we formed with this pixelated character on the screen had become a long lasting friendship with the person behind the screen. We experienced everything in the game from the traditional level grinding, to taking on the most epic of battlefields with just the three of us, completely unstoppable, but more than that, what we had created in game transcended into something real, and across the miles that separated us, we all knew that even if the game would end, our friendship and companionship would not. The Final Fantasy franchise had given us a universe to explore together, and since we all shared a love of everything in that universe, we were able to find one another. We have been playing now for a little over 10 years and still going strong. I cannot imagine logging on without meeting up with her, even if it's for a few minutes to show off new armor that we've acquired, or have a long weekend full of chocobos and finding new adventures. In 2009, we finally got to meet our friend from Canada, and it was a wonderful weekend that I never wanted to end. I bought her a bracelet which I had inscribed "Distant Worlds" because of the lines from one of the songs that became so poignant and meaningful. Final Fantasy XI has brought me something which no other game has, a best friend.

From Markeida Miles: I love Final Fantasy 7, because it was the first Final Fantasy I ever played. I treasure it because it was the first PS1 game my mother ever got me. She worked through snow storm of 1996 to pre-order it for me, and I got it as a birthday present. I also love it for the story, characters and great music. I always get chills summoning Knights of the Round Table.

We hope they both enjoy the performance!

Want to see the show? Tickets for both the 3pm and 8pm performances are still available at the NJPAC website.
