Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is a voice-over actress, writer, singer, and director.

As an actress, she is perhaps most famous for being the voice of Major Motoko Kusanagi for the Ghost in the Shell series, portraying her for the films Innocence and Solid State Society, as well as the critically acclaimed TV series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, for which she won the 2007 American Anime Award for Best Actress. You can also hear her as the Female Crusader in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Kurutsu in Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Mrs. Maheswaran in Steven Universe, Sei in Alpha Protocol and Nora in Final Fantasy XIII. Some other popular roles fans may know her for are Cornelia from Code Geass, Kurenai from Naruto, Julia from Cowboy Bebop, Zabimaru from Bleach, Helba and Bordeaux from .hack, Jagura from Wolf's Rain, Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi, and Caroline from Vampire Hunter D.

Currently, Mary is directing Penn Zero: Part Time Hero for Disney XD which premiered in 2015. She is also the director of the Naruto anime series, which includes the original anime, six films, and Naruto: Shippuden, which recently reached its milestone 500th episode, and earned her the SPJA Award for Best Director in 2008. Among her many other directing credits are for the anime Cowboy Bebop, Tenkai Knights, Wolf’s Rain, Digimon Tamers and Digimon Fusion, the films Appleseed and Metropolis, the latter of which she co-wrote the American adaptation. She also directed the original animated series Boing The Play Ranger and Gormiti: Lords of Nature.

In addition to her large list of voice acting and directing credits, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has had the great honor of singing the music of Akira Yamaoka for the Silent Hill franchise of video games. She has been featured as a vocalist in Silent Hill 3, The Room, Origins, Shattered Memories and Book of Memories – the latter two of which she also voice directed. She has also sung for the Silent Hill film and Julia X, as well as for the video games Dishonored, Ace Combat 5, Shadows of the Damned, and Kholat.
